What’s On – Friday 3rd December

Message from Mrs. Castell

Dear Parents,

I was so proud this week to watch the performances of "It’s a Miracle!" from our KS1 children. After the disappointment of last year, we thank parents for coming to watch and understanding the procedures we needed to follow. The children performed so well and the singing was amazing. We look forward to the EYFS shows next week. We thank parents for wearing masks and testing, as we have an uncertain few weeks ahead.

I met with the WISPA committee this week and I cannot tell you how hard they are working. I thank them for their support in arranging lots of exciting things for us all in the run up to Christmas, including the Christmas jumper sale today, the Elf on the Shelf store and the Christmas Craft afternoon on Wednesday 8th December - tickets are still available if you would like to book! Next Friday's Christmas market will be a fantastic event and a huge fundraiser for the school. There will be a mix of market stalls, treats and games for the children. Please buy your tokens prior to the event to avoid long queues when the children are dismissed and to give them more time to take part! There will also only be one toilet open, so please (and I am sorry to state the obvious!) go before you come along! Please consider if you can help set up, man stalls or clear away, as every penny goes towards things for all of the children in the school. WISPA are funding the Christmas pantomime for all children on Thursday 9th December and they have some very exciting plans for our library.

A reminder that clubs have now finished, apart from a session next Monday for tennis and a session on Thursday for football following the cancellation of lessons earlier in the term.

Finally, this weekend sees the Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church. Mrs Winsley and Mrs Stobbie have designed a beautiful forest school-themed tree called All Good Things Come In Trees - please go along to see it and vote for our school! A list of other festive events at the Church is available on our website, along with lots of other activities and events on our Community News page.

Have a good weekend.

It’s a Miracle! Hooray, we managed to survive 4 performances and are incredibly proud of your wonderful children. They showed confidence, courage and stamina and we were so pleased to see so many of you show your support. Well done to all the actors, musicians and singers, you are all superstars!

We are continuing to add to our Frozen topic books. This week we have found out about polar bear measurements and written captions for Arctic photographs. We’ve also been continuing with our money work.

I’m sure you will agree the children were all fabulous in their Christmas performances! They have come so far and worked very hard since September and we couldn’t be prouder of them all.

In between practises and performances we carried out a shape assessment in Maths and have revisited 2D and 3D shapes and repeating patterns. In English the children wrote weekend news and finished writing imaginative stories. In Geography we have been learning the countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom.

Foxes class logoThis week we have been practising for our show, please read the Tapestry post sent this week about it. The children are super excited! We have been making some decorations to sell at our 'Christmas Market' on Friday 10th December, we hope you can join us.  We talked about Advent and how we and Christians celebrate Christmas. Our elves came to visit us this week. Every day they write us little notes that we can read. The children have loved telling us what their elves have been up to as well! This week we have looked at the sounds r, h and b and we have been reading and writing words with these sounds in them.
