Year 1 Remote Learning: Spring 1 Week 1

Dear Year One Parents/Carers,

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break, no matter how it was spent. We just want to say a quick thank you for all of your continued support, as we are again put into a difficult situation. It is important that we continue to support our children at home and we have planned to do so through a number of at home activities.

We understand it will be difficult for those of you having to work from home, with siblings and their own home learning and possibly caring for others within your family. Therefore, it is essential that we continue to be mindful and support you during these extremely difficult circumstances. To be clear, we do not expect your child to complete a full day’s worth of school work nor stick to a schedule of the typical school day.

We have planned some simple daily activities for English, Maths and Phonics and some other activities for the non-core subjects. We will send a weekly plan of activities/tasks with website links where applicable and some helpful tips. We will hopefully try to add some Google Meet sessions (details to follow) to help us keep in contact with all of our Year One children. You will be able to access our suggested timetable that you may wish to follow, or it may be an idea to create a timetable suitable for your family or current circumstances, and work out what works best for you and your family. Please take brain breaks!
We would like to stress that the suggested provision is a guide only and anything you do with your children will be beneficial for their education. There is NO requirement or formal check that the children are completing the activities we set, they are suggestions that we hope that you will find useful and enjoyable to do. Anything you do, we would love to see via our email addresses.

We will be in regular contact with you via phone call and/or email. We can also answer any questions via email. To minimise risk there is a key worker bubble for each class which means that we will be in class teaching daily so there may be a delay in our response to you.

This is a very unusual situation for all of us and we cannot say just how much we will miss our daily contact with your lovely children.

If you need any support please do not hesitate to email us at parrots@writtleinfantschool.com or turtles@writtleinfantschool.com.

Please stay safe and look after yourselves – physically and mentally!

Wishing you all the best,
Miss Wilson, Miss Wright, Mrs Standen and the lovely Year One team.
