Message from Mrs. Castell: School Closure

Dear Parents

Many of you will be aware that yesterday we were informed by the Department of Education that both Writtle Infant and Writtle Junior School will remain closed at the start of term for a minimum of two weeks.

As Gavin Williamson explained, this decision will be reviewed over the coming weeks and when the situation is deemed safer, both schools will be directed to re-open.

Remote learning will be provided by Tuesday 5th January and we will write to you in the coming days regarding how this will work.

If you are classed as a critical key worker and require your child to attend school from Monday 4th January, please complete our ParentMail form by 11am tomorrow, Friday 1st January 2021. This will allow us time to plan staffing for this provision. Details regarding who is classified as a critical key worker can be found using the link below:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

Exact opening times will be determined once we know how many children require a place, but we will offer a full day within the usual school hours. The Duckling Nursery will remain open from Monday 4th January and we are awaiting confirmation from the YMCA about their provision.

We hope that you have all managed to have a restful Christmas and thank you for your continued support.

Take care and stay safe.

With best wishes,

Helen Castell
