Message from Mrs. Castell

Dear Parents

I have been looking through the school diary at the number of family events we have had to cancel – it would have been the Sports Day this week and our Summer Fete next Saturday. It is such a shame as I know how much we all enjoy these events. We are very lucky that WISPA raises so much money for us, as it is used for the things that make such a difference to the children. I know they have written to you about their lockdown book this week – if you are able to submit a piece of your child’s artwork I know they would be very grateful – please email wispacharity@gmail.com. Also please remember easyfundraising as a way of raising money for our school – if you are shopping from home it is a simple way to give a small percentage to our school, at no extra cost to you.

As we continue to speak to parents regularly, the same question is often asked: what will happen in September? I dream of the day we can open our gates to all our children and families. This is clearly the government’s aim, as announced today. However, we await further guidance as to how the challenges this presents can be overcome. The reality is that even if social distancing is reduced to 1m, we still cannot safely accommodate 30 children in our classrooms. We are expecting further guidelines in the next fortnight and we will update you as soon as we can.

Just a reminder that as an infant school we have had to prioritise EYFS to return to school, in addition to the children of our key workers. There are a few spaces within the EYFS bubbles, so should there be any Foxes or Squirrels parents who wish their children to return before the summer break, please contact the school office. The bubbles are working on a “one week on, one week off” basis, 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday.

Wishing you all a relaxing weekend. Take care and stay safe.

Helen Castell
