Dear Parents,
As we enjoy another heatwave, all the children had an assembly this morning from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service regarding safety around water. Children were reminded to stay with their grown ups if they are by the water and advised what to do if they ever do get into trouble. Ask them at home what they remember from this morning - they should be able to tell you who to call if help is needed and to float on their backs like a starfish if they are struggling in the water. Their ears should be under the water, apparently they can practise this in the bath, under your supervision of course!!
Annual Reports
We are grateful to have received some lovely comments from parents since issuing the annual reports on Monday - thank you to the staff for the hours of work they put into these. Well done to all your wonderful children, we hope you saw from their reports how much progress they have made and how proud we are of their achievements. You will also have received a list of classes and teachers for next year. The children had a lovely time in their new class on Wednesday morning and it was a pleasure to welcome our new Foxes and Squirrels on the same day. Remember there is an informal Meet the Teacher session on Monday at 3.15pm, where you can say hello to your child's teacher for next year. You will see the classrooms as they are set up now, although some teachers may make a few changes before September.
Buzz in the City
If you've been into Chelmsford this week you will have seen that Farleigh Hospice's Buzz in the City art project has launched, with lots of beautifully decorated bees adorning various locations across the city. Look out for our HIVE bee outside Chelmsford Library, well done to Owen and Willow from our school and all the other children from our HIVE Family of Schools who helped with the artwork! Year 1 attended an assembly this week at the Junior School, where Farleigh Hospice thanked the children for raising funds for the charity with our dress down day earlier in the term.
Reading Books
Please keep hunting for any school reading books you may have at home. We would love to see as many books as possible returned before the summer holidays as there are lots missing in school. You can access e-books through the Collins library, personal login details were emailed to you in December, or ask the school office for details.
Year 2 Leavers
Next week we celebrate our Year 2 children with an assembly on Thursday morning for parents, they can't wait to perform for you all! They will be very excited about their Leavers Disco on Monday 21st July, thank you to the PTA for funding this for us.
Clubs
All clubs have now finished for the term. Please ensure your children are collected at 3.10pm daily. Thank you to our wonderful professional coaches and staff for running all our clubs this year.
Health Advice
A reminder that every Tuesday afternoon we offer a Health Advice Drop-In service with one of the school-age health practitioners. The team are available in the library for you to discuss any health concerns about your child(ren). Please click here to book an appointment.
Community Links
Our Community Links page has been updated with ideas for activities and child care options over the summer. This includes a booklet of free activities in Mid-Essex and details of Messy Church on Sunday 27th July at All Saints Church.
Stay cool in the sunshine this weekend!
